- 70 MVC are still in Secondary Education O’ Level & A’ Level.
- 17 MVC are in Vocational Training Centers.
LESSON LEARNT;
- The MVC in our Community are the result of the AIDS Pandemic.
- When given chance of informal and formal education these MVC can perform very well.
- By forming clubs these children have found a very conducive forum for grief release.
- Provision of quality Education to these children is the best way to help them manage their lives better.
- Sincere cooperation with other stakeholders gives way to success in attending these poor children in many ways.
CHALLENGES;
- Lack of strong and prompt collaboration from other stakeholders in the community.
- Persistent of stigma and discrimination
- Extreme poverty.
- Low level of education on the part of some caretakers/ guardians of the MVC.
- Ever increasing number of orphans and child headed households compared to the available resources especially after the withdraw of our former donors – CRS, SCIAF, WFP & Trocaire.
- Food insecurity
- Traditional customs barriers such as heritance of widows and sharing of women.
- Gender imbalance which favor men against women.
- HIV & AIDS prevalence.
- Poor infrastructure especially outside the Municipality.
- The negative effects of globalizations.
FUTURE PLAN;
To build a big orphanage center where the completely neglected OVC can be nurtured.
- To build a School adjacent to the orphanage which can take care of these children for formal education from baby class to Primary School?
- To get a strong four wheel car to effect the activities of this program.
- To continue to mobilize and sensitize the community on the identification and caring of these children.
