The Finance Department has a supervisory task on major income generating units, service units and ongoing programs and projects under the Arusha Archdiocesan umbrella. All the income generating programs are there to support the survival of all the diocesan activities financially.
Planning, organizing and coordinating all the financial activities of the entire diocese and also initiate means of how the diocese can device means of soliciting income through different investments and projects. Liaison with external and internal agents on the one hand while monitoring and coordinating income sections on the other hand ensure the sustainability of the diocese.
A. Procurator’s Office
The Procurator’s Office is charged with the responsibility of acquiring, safeguarding and disposing temporal goods of the Church. To exercise this mandate, the office has full time personnel and consultative body (Finance Committee) appointed by the Local Ordinary.
B. Finance Committee
The Finance Committee is a structure of the diocesan curia that is provided for by the Code of Canon Law (C. 492§1).
The code details the expectations of the Finance Committee, defining those areas where the intervention of the committee is mandatory and where a conscientious Committee would look upon it as a duty to provide guidance. The spirit of the code as far as financial matters of the diocese are concerned, can be summarized in two words: –
Collegiality encourages the use of different people with different experiences and expertise in order to arrive at the best decisions.
Professionalism implies that the composition of the Committee and the quality of deliberations and the decisions of the Committee should demonstrate the highest standards possible. It implies also that best practice is adopted in the
way the Finance Committee goes about its affairs.
The Arusha Archdiocesan Finance Committee has no administrative role in the management of the temporal goods of the Church. In specific cases the Archbishop may assign an administrative function to the Finance Committee but this will always be in writing and will be limited to the specific case for which that role is conferred.

C. Finance Office
This provides accounting services and financial management to the Archdiocese of Arusha. The office records accounts payable and receivable, inventory, payroll, fixed assets and all other financial elements.
The Finance Office also accountants review the records of each department to determine the Arusha Archdiocesan financial position and any changes required to run the Archdiocese cost effectively.
The office is also in charge of procuring assets for the Archdiocese of Arusha. In procuring it follows all the regulations and policies within its mandate and scope.
The department is also charged with the safe custody of the assets, record keeping of all the assets, insurances and depreciations according to the set institutional policies and within the governing laws.
The Finance Office operates under the guidance of the Arusha Archdiocesan Finance Committee directives and policies. The Finance Office comprises the following members: –
